Steps to Winterizing RV
You have made a significant investment in your RV and want to keep it looking and operating under the best conditions. winter weather – including freezing temperatures, heavy snowfalls and ice accumulation on the roof – can create havoc. Moreover, rodents looking for a place to hibernate may cause considerable damage to an RV inside.
These 10 steps for winterizing your RV – both inside and outside – can help protect against the damaging effects of winter.
- Empty any water in your RV and replaced with only non-toxic RV antifreeze. Most RVs are equipped with a pump. In addition, you can use hand pumps, mechanical pumps and, on some systems, air compressors (as long as you have one tap fully open). In addition, you can install a hot water faucet diverter tank so you do not put antifreeze in the hot water tank.
Here is a step by step method to drain water:
- Empty all tanks (fresh water, gray water, sewage, water heater, tub shower and toilet).
- Open low point drains and faucet. That the creepage much as possible.
- Near the low point drains.
- Blow air through the lines using an air hose and blow-making.
(The following steps apply to an RV with a bypass of the water heater)
- Stop the pump RV.
- Close valves A, B and D. Open valves E and C. (See diagram on the right.)
- Empty the water tank water heater and freshness.
- Place the pipe E Valve in a gallon of non-toxic RV antifreeze. You’ll need more than a gallon.
- Activate the pump and open each faucet until antifreeze flows through, including any outdoor shower. Remember to run the antifreeze in the toilet.
- Add at least one cup of antifreeze in each drain to protect the P-traps.
- Close valve E.
- Your RV battery must be fully charged and stored inside.
Heated ATV Grips – runner’s best friend in the winter
Did you know they were biking heated grips? I have not, until recently, and what a bargain! I love the outdoors. I especially like going all-terrain vehicle, and in winter usually cramping my style because I can not get excited about the frozen face and fingers I find myself with.
But I found an answer to the question frozen fingers, anyway! Who knew there was such a thing as heated grips bike?!? ATV heated grips, a treasure after-sales
My bike does not come with grip heaters ATV. I had to find them by myself and install them myself. Not a difficult project if you have a bit of do-it-yourselfer in you.
You’ll need to find a pair of mountain bike grip heaters that meet your particular ATV or UTV – one size does not fit all.
Also be aware that the grip heaters are available for motorcycles, dirt bikes, snowmobiles and other vehicles that perform in cold weather. You want to ensure that ATV Heated grips are specifically designed for your ATV model unique.
Most ATVs come with heated grip adjustment variable heat, which means you can set the heat level low or high. Several models available offer different levels of heat from 1 to 5, with 1 being the lowest. A number of ATV models come with heated grips automatic shutdown also.
- Installation
I talked to several people in my ATV and UTV group that has installed heated grips MTB themselves. They said it was a fairly simple job, although a couple said they had to sand off the original paint on the handles to get the new slide on. Typical heated grips ATV will be equipped with a handlebar 7 / 8 inches.
My installation took about 45 minutes, with the hardest part is removing the original door handles. You may need to sand the remaining paint or glue to the handlebar grips for proper fit new heated grips.
There are cables easy to do. You’ll need to attach the power of the handles to make them work. A little welding and a little black electrical tape should do the trick. It is usually a toggle switch to turn on the heater type, and some models are equipped with a thumb warmer too.
ATV Grip Heaters do really keep your hands warm?
The vast majority of critics say yes!
That includes me. I found my Hot Grips brand heated grips ATV best for me at a low level. (This ATV Hot Grips heated grips model only comes in high, low and wide.) This keeps my hands to a comfortable level without sweating, and if the weather gets colder and the wind is really blowing, so I can do mounting pressure to high. I ride with my gloves, and while the handle is a little bigger with heaters on them, it is not difficult to fit comfortably on them.
Many positive comments came from police who ride their bikes all year. There is the police who have a force of 30 units of motorcycles and bicycles have heated grips, which makes it much more enjoyable riding in cold weather. Some riders said they use the high value they can actually dry their wet gloves!
Although this review was not specifically on the heater grip bike, he gave me a head. If the cops who are in the year the weather will use, and like them, it sounded like a good idea to try.
- Cost and Availability
So where do you find heater grip bike? Most ATV, UTV, motorcycle and snowmobile retailers carry them, and if you live in an area where there are few retailers, you can always go online for a wide variety.
Prices range from the lower end to $ 30 to less than $ 150. A word, hello, most critics were pleased with heaters upscale mountain bike grip. Models that were less expensive (and perhaps wrong?) Seemed to be more questions and comments unfortunate.
Perhaps the old adage “you get what you pay for” is correct after all?
Try it yourself. I think you will find, like me, that will be cold heated grips bike riding much more enjoyable, which means that you get out much!
Ten things you should know before you rent a van
In general when it comes to rent a van, everyone starts and ends with the price. While looking for value for money is good, if using a reputable company with a good record. This article will explain 10 basis points to keep in mind when a van rental company, it may well save you money and hassle.
- Cheap price Van: Yes, this is usually most people start. Look at the comparative prices of companies. Also check the cost of excess mileage and excess insurance. examine the distribution help policymakers and the required deposit.
- Van Rental Company Check: There is a huge amount of resources out there for people to check on companies. There are many forums and even now in the Google search engine, you can view the discussion and update on the company. It is a great resource to see people have had problems with the company you plan to use.
- Tell the rental company what you’re on the move: People who work in a truck or van rental company will be much more familiar with vehicle size and capacity you are, it always pays to tell the company the load you are moving and if the selected vehicle will be suitable. Often you would find a better match your load. For example, the rental company I work for always asking customers what they are moving. They do this for two reasons, firstly to ensure that the van customer is good for employment and secondly he is legally fit for purpose. I mean if someone needs to move 4 tons of gravel from Dublin to Cork, they will not do so in a Ford Transit van.
- Learn about credit cards / debit cards. Talk to someone who works in a warehouse rental vans and they will tell you that it is the most difficult aspect of the leasing company. You have someone who walks in that you have never seen before and you deliver what may be up to € 40 000 euros worth of new van. All goes well until the client leaves one of these new prepaid credit card and then returns when it is not accepted. The reason is simple, these cards are essentially the documents and have no property qualifications attached to it. Worse yet, they can usually signal that you are a person with bad credit who can not hold a proper credit card. A leasing company will usually do a check on your card for a predetermined amount and bill you for your rental when you return the vehicle.
- Check out the vehicle before you leave. Before taking your van, spend a little time to look over. Make sure lamps, mirrors, windows, etc work. Check the spare wheel and toolkit. Examine the van for damage of the panel and ensure that these are noted on the agreement, also check the fuel policy.
- Make sure you can drive the truck properly. If you’re comfortable with the size of a rental van, “said the dealer about this. It does not feel like the most manly thing you’ve ever done, but if you’re not used to driving large units, you must be cautious about taking on the open road.
- If you damage a rented van, said the representative. This rarely happens. Usually, you find people looking great on the side of the swearing-dead vehicles that it was not them, it normally comes to an end when you make a bet with them that the door of their house is green lime. In other words, the rental companies rarely make mistakes when picking up the damage. It may often happen to vehicles when not in them. For example, how many times have you back on your own car and found a new dent or scratch on the side.
- Stick to the fuel policy. If you return the vehicle to complete and return the vehicle full of fuel, if you are to return empty, then return it as low as possible.
- Get a receipt for reimbursement. When you return the rental van, ask for a receipt showing the return of your deposit, you have a higher risk of problems with these companies that allow unattended drop offs.
- van rental customers ask for a discount. Regular customers usually take less time to process than the customer first, whether you use rental vans many try to negotiate a pre roll rate each time you use a vehicle
